In reply to Martin. No, didn't spot them. They're incredible. We're doing some work in Portugal and then off to Scotland for a tour around the Highlands. After that we're not sure. We've a few ideas but nothing concrete. We tend to have a couple of quite big writing projects on the go at any one time and like to get those out of the way before we decide what to do next :)

Did you pass the mirror shop near the Academia (Canestrelli – http://www.venicemirrors.com/stuk.htm)? They sell convex Ventian mirrors, just like the one in Jan Van Eyck’s, The Arnolfini Wedding. I just love looking in the window.

In reply to Martin. Thanks for the tips. We wandered past the shipyards (the bookshop with the baths is nearby) but didn't actually go in. It was one of the places we were surprised at how few people were there considering how striking looking the shipyards are.

Another great blog! I found that the ‘Venetian Church Pass’, allows you into 10 different churches and really gets one off the beaten track.

The shipyards ( Arsenale di Venezia), also worth a visit.
