La Graciosa, Paradise in Pictures

We’ve written about the tiny island of La Graciosa off Lanzarote before. Once you know that La Graciosa is basically one huge beach populated by somewhere between 500 and 700 residents and surrounded by the water that has the same lure as a Siren’s song, there’s not an awful lot more to say about it.

But it is a drop dead gorgeous island and the photos we took there are just sitting in a folder doing nothing. So here are some more.

You don’t need to travel halfway around the world to enjoy the simple charm of the sort of island you’d expect to find in the Pacific. It’s possible to play castaway in Europe every month of the year.

There’s a very good reason why the Canary Islands are so popular with northern Europeans.

Everyone comes for the beaches of course, but the volcanic landscape around the coast has its own surreal attraction.

This is what’s known as a busy beach on La Graciosa.

Roads, La Graciosa, Lanzarote

Yes, there are roads on La Graciosa… sort of.

Empty beaches, La Graciosa, Lanzarote

No worries with needing too much hand luggage for this destination. Clothes would just make this scene seem littered.

Where the streets have no tar. The only cars here, bizarrely, are Land Rovers.

Caleta del Sebo on La Graciosa. The sort of place where you need a kayak to get to the local bar.
